Additional Information: In the spring of 2003 Sofia Airport started the construction of a new passenger terminal building with an annual capacity of 2.5 million passengers and a new runway system. The construction will take approximately 22 months and upon its completion and finalisation of all necessary tests, the new airport facilities will become operational at the end of 2005. The airport cargo area are being re-organised in order to facilitate the procedures and provide better handling conditions.

Additional Information: THis Bulgaria airport is planned to have a new passenger terminal built in 2005 with the security equipment having been upgraded in 2003.
